Dear Gwinnett County Parent

Gwinnett County Public School statistics show that students who will attend title one schools in Gwinnett county are at least 30% behind students who attend non-title one schools.

For the sixteenth consecutive year, Interlocking Communities, Inc (ICI), a non-profit corporation, in partnership with the GCPS school district, is offering classes to aid your elementary age students so they will experience success in school.

Now, for the second consecutive year, in January, 2017, ICI will offer classes designed specifically for your pre-school aged child. Parents of children who will enter Kindergarten in the 2017-2018 school year have the opportunity to help their child get a head start so they will be successful in school. The program is called Ready By Five (RBF).

Please Note:

  • A parent MUST attend classes with each enrolled child for each of the 9 weeks of classes.
  •  Transportation is the responsibility of the parent
  •  If you and your child miss 2 classes, you will both be dropped from the program.
  •  We will maintain a wait list in the event a seat in the program becomes available.

The classes are taught by GCPS-certified teachers and paraprofessionals on 9 consecutive Saturdays beginning January 28, 2017. The dates of classes are January 28, February 04, 11, 18, 25 and March 04, 11, 18, 25, 2017. The classes will be held at Meadowcreek High School on Steve Reynolds Blvd in Norcross from 8:00 am to 10:15 am or from 10:45 am to 1:00 pm for children who will enter Kindergarten in the 2017-2018 school year.  If enrolled, you and your child will be assigned to one of those two schedules.

IMPORTANT: To apply for enrollment, you may go online at www.ICIEducates.org, click on ‘ICI’s Ready By Five Program’ under ‘Community Programs’ and follow the links to the ‘RBF Online Student Application’, or, you may complete the paper application (available in English or Spanish) provided by your school, and return it to your child’s teacher by October 14, 2016. The deadline for applying for enrollment online is October 28, 2016.  You will receive a letter no later than January 14, 2017, that will let you know whether your child has been accepted into the program.

Any student who has been accepted into the program but who misses both of the first two weeks of classes, will no longer be eligible to participate in the program. Any student who misses two consecutive classes will be ineligible to continue to attend.
